On August, 27th, 2019 we welcomed a new Master of Science in Civil Engineering to the local scientific community. In that afternoon, Mr. Gledson Cotrim had been called for his Master’s thesis defense.
I was a member of the Examining Committee in that session, together with professors Daniel Cruz Cavalieri, Elcio Cassimiro Alves, Renato Krohling (Co-supervisor) and Rodrigo Rosa (Supervisor).
The original thesis title was “ESTIMAÇÃO DA VIDA ÚTIL REMANESCENTE DE TRILHOS FERROVIÁRIOS POR MEIO DE TÉCNICAS DE APRENDIZADO DE MÁQUINA” (free translation: ESTIMATION OF REMAINING LIFE OF RAILWAYS BY MACHINE LEARNING TECHNIQUES).
Once again I would like to register my gratitude to Prof. Rodrigo de Alvarenga Rosa for the invitation to take part in the examination board and I give my congratulations to Mr. Gledson Cotrim for his achievement.
It was an honor to take part in this session, especially because predictive analytics for railroad planning is one of my preferred research topics.
