It was an honor to have been invited by the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) – Civil Engineer Graduation Program to be the cosupervisor and taking part in the M.Sc. Degree Examination Committee for the thesis “Predição de falha em motor diesel de locomotiva baseada na análise de óleo lubrificante” (free translation: Locomotive diesel engine fault prediction based on lubricant analysis) delivered by the MSc student Jéssica Andrade Prata.
The thesis project proposal exam (qualification exam) took place on March, 27th, 2019 at UFES. After the qualification presentation delivered by Miss Prata and the typical questions and answers session, the committee has granted, unanimously, the authorization for her to start her MSc research and thesis writing.
I would like to register my gratitude to Prof. Rodrigo de Alvarenga Rosa for the invitation to be the cosupervisor in this MSc Degree Project.
This thesis project is the result of a partnership between Vale, FAPES and UFES and aims to produce a preliminary model to solve a real live industry problem, so I would also like to express my gratitude to my colleagues from the AI Center and from the locomotive maintenance shop from Vale who joined Prof. Rodrigo and me to provide valuable information and guidance to the project development. In this context, I would like to nominate, specifically, Marcos Cotta, Rafael Lychowski, Edson Antonio, João Paulo Dias, and Alanderson Dalmaso.
Go ahead with you MSc Thesis Miss Jéssica Prata! I am sure it will be an occasion for creativity and intellectual growth for you.
